What it is

Shardfront is a hex-grid real-time strategy game for phones and browsers, played in landscape and fullscreen. You deploy units instantly, command them across the map, mine shards, and hold the pads around the central Spire so its Rift Lance strikes the rival's hub.

It is a public alpha. Expect rough edges, and please tell the creator what breaks.

Why it exists

It started as a request to build a fast, coordination-heavy mobile RTS in the spirit of short-match mobile strategy games such as Command & Conquer: Rivals (this game is not affiliated with or endorsed by EA), with units that make cool sounds and say real words.

The first version was a lane-pusher that missed the point. It was thrown away and rebuilt around hexes, instant deployment, direct command and a contested centre.

Why "shards"?

Shards are the in-game currency. They are named after the currency on the creator's Twitch stream, where viewers earn shards the longer they watch.

Voices

Every unit and the commander has original spoken lines. The creator plans to record them. Until then your device reads them aloud, and you can import a recorded voice pack from the pause menu.

How it was made

Built with Claude Code, an AI coding assistant, working from the creator's direction. "JBU" (Just Build Units) is the project's internal codename.

Soundtrack

The music is by Travesty and their earlier aliases. Listen, follow and support them:
